Puttur is a census town and mandal headquarters in Chittoor district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.Puttur is known for its natural bone setting hospital.The first railway line in Andhra Pradesh state was laid from Renigunta to Puttur. Puttur is also known for mangoes cultivated in surrounding villages. Puttur is located at 13.45°N 79.55°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 144 metres (472 feet). Puttur is situated on the way from Tirupati to Chennai. It is situated at distance of 35 km from Tirupathi and 11 km from Nagari and 18 kilometres from Andhra Pradesh’s border with Tamil Nadu.

Govt. Degree College came into existence on 11-9-1983 The college was established with a modest Strength of 114 and by now it has grown by leaps and bounds to a whopping strength of 1350 in 2021-2023 to emerge as one of the biggest / towering colleges in Chittoor district.

The institution got UGC recognition under 2(f) and 12(B) sections on 18-01-1995 and institution is affiliated to S.V. University, Tirupati of Chittoor Dist, Andhra Pradesh.
