Government Degree College , Puttur is prestigious College in Chittoor Dist.established in the year 1983. The Department of Hindi has been established in 1983. The Department offers Hindi as Second Language and the students even though their mother tongue is Telugu are eager to take Hindi as their Optional Subject in their UG courses . The student strength has been increasing year by year.  Dr. B.Surendra Working  in this college from  2015 to till date . CBCS was adopted in the year 2014. Department of Hindi is working for specific mission and goals. It makes efforts for all Development of students. Educational Institution such as modular curriculum for I, II, III, IV semesters for second language Hindi like Functional Hindi (General Elective) in CBCS.
